If You're a Star

Album: Dream Too Much (2016)

Songfacts®:

  • This is a track from Dream Too Much, a children's album inspired by Jack, Amy Lee's 2-year-old son with husband Josh Hartzler.

Jack was Lee's "test audience" while she wrote the album with her father and sisters. "As soon as we'd start going down a road," Lee explained to MTV News, "I'm thinking, hmm, I might try this little idea I have for donkey and chicken, whatever it is. It's usually me singing it to Jack or me making a demo in my studio and coming downstairs and playing it for him and seeing how he reacts and tweaking it to fit."
  • The song's music clip brims with animated, picture book-style stars, sheep and trees. "The video is meant to illustrate that we're never alone, that we're not so different, all across the world," Lee told Entertainment Weekly. "All you have to do is look up to remember that we are all under the same very big sky, maybe even wishing on the same star."
