Songfacts®:

  • California Breed was formed in 2013 by vocalist Glenn Hughes, drummer Jason Bonham and newcomer, guitarist Andrew Watt, who was introduced to Hughes and Bonham by Julian Lennon.
  • Julian Lennon made a guest appearance on this song. "When he sings Jools sounds like his dad but he doesn't mean to," Hughes commented to Classic Rock magazine. "He's a class, class act. When he sang my lyrics and melody for that song he made me weep like a f---ing whore."
  • Hughes told Classic Rock that the song you hear on California Breed is the version that he wrote, "except for the fact that (producer) Dave Cobb said: 'I want a lead vocal solo.'"
