Go Do That With Sharon

  • Some of us love road trips to offbeat attractions like the world's largest ball of string or the double-decker outhouses. Others, not so much, which is why we need a Sharon. David Haerle told Songfacts: "The song's kind of an inside joke between me and my partner Erica. We have a very good friend, Sharon, who likes to do things some people might find a little offbeat or kooky, like the international UFO convention she just attended. When Erica and I are traveling, say on Interstate 15, and I exclaim, 'I'd love to go explore that abandoned water park over there,' something she has zero interest in, she'll say, 'Go do that with Sharon.' Even in the best of relationships there will be interests both parties don't share, so to be able to have other friends you can 'go do that with...' is a healthy thing."
  • This is the first release from David Haerle's second album, Death Valley. It was released with a video showing many of the places mentioned in the song. Said Haerle: "Shooting footage for the video was a lot of fun. Michael Pottle shot me performing in Griffith Park in Los Angeles, and the remainder of the footage was shot on vacation road trips with my partner Erica, and on road trips specifically for this video. You will see Death Valley, the Salton Sea, Slab City, Salvation Mountain, East Jesus, Bombay Beach, Area 51, the abandoned Lake Delores Waterpark, Rachel, NV, the Mojave Air and Space Port, the ET Highway, and other amazing places in California and Nevada!"
