  • Bob's Yer Uncle is British slang for "And so it is done." It came into being when Balfour, an Irish politician, was promoted to Chief Secretary of Ireland in 1887 by an act of nepotism by his uncle Robert, Lord Salisbury.
  • Happy Mondays frontman Shaun Ryder recalled to NME in 1990: "With 'Bob's Yer Uncle,' Oakie (producer, Paul Oakenfold) said let's make this one sexy for the ladies, and the words just spilled out. It was just the way the guitar was... it sounds sexy but it's really f--king sick. The words are just like a schoolboy rhyme that any kid could make up. It sounds right. I'm not capable of writing something sexy, but I can write something dirty that sounds sexy."
