Songfacts®:

  • This piano ballad is one of two songs that Lily Allen contributed to the soundtrack of the Peter Pan prequel, Pan. The song was inspired by the heartache that Allen experienced after suffering a miscarriage when she was six months pregnant with her first child with husband Sam Cooper in 2010.

    We had forever
    We never got it together

Allen wrote on Twitter on October 27, 2015: "5 years ago today I was admitted to hospital. 4 days later I delivered a beautiful baby boy, but sadly he didn't make it. It's unlike me to discuss this sort of thing so publicly but I wrote this song in his memory when writing something for @panmovie"
  • The song was written by Allen with Keane keyboardist and songwriter Tim Rice-Oxley.
