Songfacts®:

  • This breakup banger about the struggle to move on features vocals by Camila Cabello.

    It's too late, too late
Baby, I know I'll never find you again

Though Cabello is now in a new relationship, this guy doesn't have a shot compared to her ex. She laments losing her former boyfriend but acknowledges it's too late.
  • Cabello said in an Instagram post that when Ronson told her he was working on a project titled Late Night Feelings "full of emo bops sung by girls about love and heartbreak," she said she'll be there as soon as possible.

Cabello added that when she arrived at the studio she bought with some lyrics for a song she'd wanted to write titled "Find You Again." They went in the studio and finished it the same day.
  • According to Cabello, the second verse is full of lyrics she's had since the age of 16. After holding onto them for over five years she adapted them for this song.

Always you-shaped thoughts inside my head, like
I keep pushing them right into you

In August 2018 an incomplete track by the Cuban-American singer was leaked titled "U Shaped Space." Its chorus shared some similar lyrics:

'Cause there's a you-shaped space where your hands used to be
Baby, there's a pillowcase where you lay next to me
  • The song is built around a melody penned by Tame Impala's Kevin Parker. The Australian musician played a large role on Ronson's Uptown Special album, singing on three songs and playing drums, guitars and synths on another track. Other collaborations between the pair include Lady Gaga's 2016 single "Perfect Illusion."
  • Ronson explained to Zane Lowe that Parker's melody was written some time around 2017 and had stuck with him since. He wanted to include it on Late Night Feelings but was unable to find a place for it until he had a lightbulb moment. The producer recalled driving around and hearing either Cabello's "Havana" or "Consequences" and he realized the former Fifth Harmony singer was the missing piece.

When Cabello came in to work on the track she came prepared with some lyrics that fit perfectly. Ronson said: "When you're trying to write lyrics to a pre-existing melody, it is very challenging and most people usually just like- she just nailed it. She cracked the code."
  • The noirish video, directed by Bradley & Pablo, finds Ronson playing one of several assassins sent after Cabello. The killers descend upon a cabaret called Club Heartbreak, where Cabello is performing "Find U Again" alongside two dancers.

Bradley & Pablo are also responsible for clips by Little Mix ("Think About Us"), Rosalía ("Aute Cuture") and Charli XCX and Lizzo's (" Blame It on Your Love ").
