Songfacts®:

  • This is a track from Drones, a concept record about a man being indoctrinated by the system to be a human drone. The meditation upon modern warfare and killing technology finds the battle for control of the hero's mind sending him to the front line of the war against terror:

    You killed by remote control.
The world is on your side.
    You've got the CIA, babe
  • Drones doubles as a break-up album as a result of frontman Matt Bellamy's separation from his wife, Kate Hudson, in 2014. "Home is becoming a killing field," Bellamy spits here. He told Q magazine: "I've tried hard to create a parallel arc which is relatable at a personal level. It can be relatable to anybody who goes through that."
  • Muse gave a live debut to this track at Belfast venue Ulster Hall on March 15, 2015, ending their set with this number. The song was also played during the May 30, 2015 FA Cup Final between Arsenal and Aston Villa.
