Songfacts®:

  • Like many of the songs on Rancid's album Indestructible, "Fall Back Down" was partially inspired by lead singer Tim Armstrong's breakup with ex-wife Brody Dalle of The Distillers. The song touches on themes of resilience and brotherhood, which help us through the hard times.
  • The success of this track helped make Indestructible Rancid's most commercially successful record since 1995's …And Out Come The Wolves. The commercial success, combined with appearances by pop stars Kelly Osbourne and Benji Madden from Good Charlotte in the video, led some Rancid fans to believe the band had finally "sold out."
  • In 2004, "Fall Back Down" appeared in two video games: Tony Hawk's Underground 2 and NASCAR Thunder 2004.
  • The Canadian Pop sensation Lights covered this song for her 2010 Acoustic EP.
