Songfacts®:

  • The title track of the Monuments To An Elegy album finds Billy Corgan yelling, "I feel alright tonight and everywhere I go it's shining bright." He chuckled to NME: "It's how you feel when you've had a bit of drink or drugs."
  • Tommy Lee plays drums on all nine of Monuments To An Elegy's tracks. Corgan told Blabbermouth why the band recruited the Mötley Crüe founder member for the album. "The songs, in demo form, had a strut, and so the suggestion was made that we ought to get someone who 'plays like' Tommy," he explained. "Jeff Schroeder, Punpkins' guitarist said, 'Why not get the real deal?'"
