Songfacts®:

  • This EDM track finds Chainsmokers collaborating with XYLØ. Paige Duddy of the electropop brother/sister duo sings philosophical lyrics in which she questions:"Why's it easier to burn than it is to heal?" Her somber words contrast with the more upbeat rhythmic side of the track. Chainsmokers told AntiMusic:

"XYLØ sounds amazing on it. They are this super dark and moody indie band that we have been huge fans of, so it was sick to work with them on this."
  • The song was released as part of the Collage EP on November 4, 2016. The duo had been holding onto "Setting Fires" for a while before including it on the record. They said: "It's a little bit of a departure from the past few tracks which we wrote, produced and sing on, this one is just a production and has more of a club party feel but we loved it too much to let it slip through the cracks."
