Songfacts®:

  • One of the earliest Rock-Pop bands out of San Francisco, The Mojo Men landed in the top 40 in 1967 with this cover of the Steven Stills original. Stills' version, which has an entirely different Country-Rock vibe, appeared on Buffalo Springfield's debut album in 1966. >>>

  • Tony from Guerneville, CaThis song entered the Top 40 on KFRC in mid December, 1966 - I believe this was the earliest entry in the charts nationally no doubt because they were a local group (in the San Francisco area.)
  • Barry from Sauquoit, NyOn February 11th 1967, the Mojo Men performed their covered version of "Sit Down, I Think I Love You"* on the ABC-TV program 'American Bandstand'...

The San Francisco-area quartet had two other Top 100 records, "Dance With Me" {#61 in 1965} and "Me About You" {#83 in 1967}...
